Tools needed for repairing your dishwasher
Tools needed to repair your Maytag dishwasher are a quarter inch nut driver attached to a power drill, a flashlight, and a hand-held meter reader to check the electrical output.

Before calling a repair specialist
The first thing to do is empty the dishwasher of all dishes and close the soap dispenser making sure there is no soap left in it. Start the dishwasher on a regular cycle. This is to first check and ensure the dishwasher is receiving a proper water flow. While the dishwasher is running through an empty cycle remove the base plate located just under the door of the appliance. Once the base plate is removed it should expose the motor of the appliance as well as the float switch, water valve, and drain hose. During this time the dishwasher should be filling up with water, which should be audible. If you do not hear water running in the dishwasher open the door to ensure there is no water in the machine. If it is empty return the washer to a rinse cycle and using a hand-held meter reader check to ensure the water valve is operating at 120 volts. If the water valve is receiving the full 120 volts that is needed the next step is to check the water fill valve. If the fill valve is not working properly water is not reaching the machine and not activating the soap dispenser to open and release the soap. To fix this issue you will need to order a new water fill valve to replace it. If you are not comfortable replacing the valve yourself, please contact us and let one of our friendly and professional specialists help you today.
Home repairs can be done with reasonable ease and confidence once you know how. Repairing a dishwasher, yourself can save you hundreds of dollars over the cost of your appliance. Don’t delay repairing your dishwasher or it could turn into a much bigger and more expensive repair.
